SYSGO and STMicroelectronics demonstrate secure Internet of Vehicles at CES 2020

Beijing, December 13, 2019-STMicroelectronics (ST; NYSE: STM), the world’s leading semiconductor supplier spanning multiple Electronic applications, and the world’s leading European certified embedded real-time operation System (RTOS) development company SYSGO will jointly demonstrate a secure Telematics Internet of Vehicles solution at the CES 2020 Consumer Electronics Show (January 7-10, 2020) in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

This automotive security gateway, jointly developed by both parties, is based on STMicroelectronics’ secure Telematics and communications connection dedicated automotive processor Telemaco3P system chip (SoC) and SYSGO’s PikeOS hypervisor-based RTOS system, bringing avionics to the automotive market Level of security function.

The Telemaco3P platform is a cost-effective vehicle-cloud secure connection solution. Its asymmetric multi-core architecture is based on a powerful application processor and an independent CAN control subsystem optimized for power management functions. The ISO 26262 standard chip design, embedded hardware security module, and automotive-grade quality certification with an ambient temperature of up to 105°C allow developers to develop various secure Telematics applications that support high-speed wireless connections and wireless firmware upgrades.

PikeOS expands the concept of safe Telematics, adopting the concept of active safety to place all channels and applications in a separate closed unit, and each unit cannot be interconnected unless the developer explicitly allows and configures it. This strict kernel-level security isolation can prevent the initial failure or maliciously attacked software from affecting the software running in other units. PikeOS is currently the only RTOS/virtual machine management software that has passed Common Criteria (EAL 3+) certification. It has been used by the avionics, railway and automotive industries to develop various safety-critical applications.

The car security gateway adopts a comprehensive protection security concept, including virtual firewall, intrusion detection system (IDS), fast and secure start function, and software security wireless update, support for secure mobile cloud access, and car security Wi-Fi, Bluetooth , Ethernet and CAN bus. At CES 2020, STMicroelectronics and SYSGO will demonstrate how the automotive security gateway can detect and effectively prevent wireless network attacks.

Luca Rodeschini, General Manager of ST’s Automotive and Discrete Device Product Division Strategy and Automotive Processors Division, said: “Safety Telematics is a major component of advanced driver assistance systems, and safety certification will become a major concern for OEMs and suppliers. SYSGO is not only With software security technology and a large amount of certification expertise, we are honored to be able to work with them and strive to make automotive solutions one step closer to the goal of certification.”

Franz Walkembach, Vice President of SYSGO Marketing and Cooperation, said: “STMicroelectronics is a pioneer in the field of automotive security. We are honored to work with them to provide reliable Telematics solutions for the next generation of automobiles. We share a common philosophy with ST: Safety expertise is brought to the automotive market. Our joint demonstration at CES 2020 is the first step in our cooperation.”

The automotive security gateway will be exhibited at the Automotive Grade Linux event at the Smart City Expo (Westgate Hall 1815), and at the same time in the SYSGO private room (Room 1830 on the 18th floor) of the Westgate Hotel.
