1. Automotive millimeter wave radar chip solution

Millimeter wave radar refers to a radar that works in the millimeter wave band. Radar is used to transmit radio to the surroundings, and the distance, direction and size of obstacles can be calculated by measuring and analyzing the reflected waves. Typical applications include automobile collision avoidance radar, helicopter prevention and control radar, and precision tracking radar. The latest automotive millimeter wave radar can identify cars and pedestrians.

The following introduces an automotive millimeter wave radar solution based on the 24GHz integrated transceiver chip launched by UMS.

The 24GHz automotive millimeter wave radar solution is mainly composed of a 24GHz radio frequency transceiver chip, a control unit and CAN bus interface. The 24GHz radio frequency transceiver chip realizes the generation, transmission and reception of millimeter wave signals, and the control unit uses algorithms to realize the functions of ranging and speed measurement. Based on this solution, the application of automotive collision avoidance radars such as blind spot detection (BSD), lane change assist (LCA)/departure warning (LDW), adaptive cruise control (ACC), etc. can be realized. In addition, it can also realize the application of distance measurement and speed measurement radar in the fields of intelligent transportation speed and distance measurement, security, industrial control, etc.

The core device of the solution is the industry’s only 24GHz integrated transceiver chip CHC2442 that adopts gallium arsenide process introduced by UMS. The following are the main features of the device:
