They can also be recalibrated and used again instead of being replaced immediately. Some proximity sensors, such as magnetic variants, use at least one 1-2 mm diameter bolt, which is usually used as a probe and to detect magnetic fields. The only possibility for these proximity sensors to fail is if there is a continuous covering that mistakenly becomes the detection target of the probe. They may accumulate on the tip of the probe in the form of excess product, or dirt that just needs to be cleaned.
